One notably consistent part of the varied tales from the West is the presence of new and more dangerous machines the likes of which have never been seen in the Sundom. Many visitors also spoke of strange tribes in the lands beyond the border, including drinkers of machine blood. This seems to be supported by the machine blood drinking Shaman Brin, an exile of the Banuk, who leaves the Sundom for the Forbidden West upon completion of his side quest.
Aloy (Ashly Burch) and her associate Sylens (Lance Reddick) will return in Horizon Forbidden West, which will take the characters westward to explore a new frontier of America. The original game already took place in the West, in present-day states like Colorado and Utah, and the sequel will head to the Pacific coast. The trailer features footage of Aloy swimming around; the extant towers of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge are visible in multiple screenshots (see gallery below); and there are new machines based on animals such as boars, turtles, and woolly mammoths.
